I need help with my Sky+

I just joined and really need some help.

I just subscribed to Sky again and got myself a new Sky+hd box, I still have my old Sky+ box with old viewing card which I was using this morning.

Is it possible to have my old box in another room without subscribing to Sky multi room?

The other receiver will get the FTA channels unless you get a multiroom subscription.

Ok, thankyou. I'm pretty dumb with this. Do I need to run a cable from my dish or from the Sky+hd box?

You need to run a cable from the dish to input 1 on your Sky+ box. Run 2 cables from the dish if you think you might want to get a multiroom connection from Sky at a later date and connect the second cable to I/P 2. You will also need phone lines to both receivers for Sky multiroom.

Yes, you need to run a new cable from the existing dish to the new location. Since the box won't work as a twin tuner PVR (because you don't subscribe to multiroom) you only need to run one cable.

But, should you wish to use the box as a full twin tuner PVR (full sky+ functionality), you will need the multiroom subscription, and 2 new cable runs instead of 1, and have the box paired to a new card by Sky.
