Bump! I would also like to know this, especially for the sb4100. Somehow the bpi issue has not affected my sb4100 in the cardiff area and the firmware i am using is about 4 years old and was installed 4 years ago. Saying that my cm has not been rebooted in a good few months now!
This would be nice to find out so I also can plan for the near future.

Firmware i'm using is:

Software Version: SB4100-0.4.4.5-SCM01-NOSH-2.03
Hardware Version: 0
MIB Version: II
GUI Version: 1.0
VxWorks Version: 5.3

I am using a 00:20 mac and its been working for about 4-6 months so far. I am also not forcing, neither am I serving my own config. The config i am using is dynamic i believe as it is quite random! (M3fb249f*******.cm)
I am also not currently spoofing my nic as at te moment i'm too scared to change anything. (If it ain't broke.........!)

There is also a tab on one of the hack pages that lets you 'Update Cable Modem firmware' and lets you browse for the firmware file from your pc if the 4100 has been pre-hack3d although you probably knew that already

does anyone know if you can use telnet to change the bpi settings on the sb4100? and does it have a setting for 1.1 as well as 1.0 or off?

Have a read in the Haynes Cable Modem Guide, the commands should be in there.

Danielle, did you manage to get the 2mb dump working for the 4100 from the sbhacker forum.
The thread attatched to the download in sbhacker forum only has 2 comments and they both say that the dump isn't working or the dump wasn't made properly.
If you decide to test it please share your results! Thanks!

The 4100/4200's work fine in most areas although you have to make sure you have the correct version (Doscis or EuroDocsis) for your area. Telnet also works fine if you load the correct version of firmware and connect up the serial port.

They are quite dated these days though, especially the 4100. Depending on the revision of the 4100 you may find its limited to a max transfer rate of about 14Mbit/sec. The later ones could just about manage 20Meg but struggled somewhat. VM do still have many customers using 4100's but they will replace them if the customer moves to the 20Meg service
