Does anyone know where I can get a serial cable from to update firmware etc on my Eurovox? I know the obvious is eBay but I really need it today.

Cheers

good morning
eurovox 5100 pvr
unfortunately I too lost channels, I followed instructions on the website, but before scan started all channels were deleted, after the scan is complete it just reverts back to the frequency window, and nothing happens
the window on the front of the box just shows 4 zeros
forgive me for my ignorance but as i am a pensioner things get a bit slower as you age
many thanks

Hi Phil, Thanks for your reply and you have not caused me any offence. Your explanation is good to me mate. I do understand where you are coming from and fully agree with you on the matter of people not looking for anything themselves. Good luck and best wishes Wez

The thing I feel “you” should remember is that not everyone understands how to search for something on a web site, not everyone understands if the information they have searched for applies to them, a lot of people can be very stressed out by the time they find their way here and often just need a few kind words of yes “we” can help you.

I came here for help last night and found the help I needed but also a lot of the information found by doing a search may not always apply to the model of Eurovox that you have.

Lost a few channels this morning in Bromley Kent area on Eurovox Max. Auto scan did not help. So erased all the channels and then Power scanned solved the problem. Noticed a few frequency changes though. I now have to re-do my favourite section as it is all blank atm. Hope this could be of some help.

Hello and welcome.

It may be that after doing a factory reset you are scanning on the wrong symbol rate. If you click here and check for your area, the numbers to look for are the last 4. For example, I'm in Nottingham, ex-NTL, so my symbol rate is 6887, or 6.887 as you enter it into the symbol rate selector on your Eurovox before you start your scan for channels.

Hope that makes sense and that you get sorted.

Thanks for your comments milliesman. I understand what you say and appreciate that people may not know how to use search, we all had to start somewhere after all, but when a newcomer posts almost exactly the same question as the most recent post on the front page of the forums, then another user does the same thing it gets a bit tiring trying to help everyone. Just look how many topics there are regarding the channels missing in Luton, Bedfordshire for example.

It's not just that people don't know how to use the search function, a lot don't even bother to try and help themselves by reading posts that contain the same question they're asking, and often, the answer as well.

If I can help anyone I will do, but myself and most of the other regular posters aren't here to spoonfeed the information to people who simply can't be bothered to look for themselves.

Rant over, let's have a beer.
