Default PLI Jade image or nabilosat?

Well, I saw some comments here:

Broken system within 1 day lol..

from SS, saying that some images are buggy and to use NS? I was thinking of flashing the sat side of my receiver with PLI as Ive grown to like it on the cable side. Im getting my dish installed on the 24th, so will obviously need to do this beforehand

don't bother with pli mate, just complicated for no reason.. I changed mine was slow and buggy. Erm not sure about nabilo, but southernsatellite has recommended me it, I'm gonna take his word tbh.. the fact he deals in sat should be enough i think to say nabilo is the way to go..

thanks aj

Well, I have used PLI on the cable side, so I did work out the complications lol. I would like to use PLI as I have come to like it since I chose to use enigma images, not neutrino. If I have to, Ill use NS, but would prefer to use PLI

The Pli image is more stable than the blackhole, in my opinion. I have about 8 images on a CF card in my 7025 and change them with BarryAllen, I like the Pli images. I am using the Pli image, because the EPG for Freesat is great, you get 7 days with it. An image is a very personal thing, some people like one and others like another, you just got to try them mate. One advantage with the blackhole image is that you get the EMC info along the top of the screen when you change channels, handy if you are using a CS, but there are other images which show this info too.

Regards Wez

You guessed wrong

Pli or nabilosat? Why bother with either of them

Have you looked at S.I.F or EDG images?

I have EDG Nemesis 4.4 on my 500s and my TM9100 and they both work flawlessly. The only drawback about EDG is that you have to ftp the server location over to it to download the emus, but otherwise its a good piece of software for you box.

If you do go for this image i will let you know how to get the emus from the download server via the blue button

S.I.F 1.9.3 is also a good image for the 500. 1.9.4 is out but i find it a little too buggy at the moment

The bit in the quote should tell you everything you need to know

Quote:
ECM = "Entitlement Control Message", Entitlement Check, that will ask to card, if you have official card..
CW = "Control Word", If ECM is OK, then card gives this as an answer to unlock (i mean decode)..
EMM = "Entitlement Management Message", Card Update signals (as digital scrambled data) for official card.
PID and SID are about mpeg data stream, tell's which ecm will be used and which channel in stream etc...

Ill have a look for EDG Nemesis 4.4. Otherwise, Ill try PLI on the receiver. Also, Ill need to network my receiver up first before I do any downloads

FWIW, I have Nabilosat on my DM800 and open PLI on my DM500 and DM600, I found the OpenPLI easiest to use and bang upto date too, but as stated, it's each to your own

Images are generally subject to personal preference. Both the Nabilosat and the Pli are good images as are many others. I have had Nabilosat Darkstar on my 7000 for many months now with no problems whatsoever. Probably no problems because I dont play about with it and just use it to watch TV and play music/films.

My 800 is a different matter, because I beta test for a couple of image compilers and hence flash my box and add multiboot images several times a week.

The LT6 image was released recently after many months of testing and, for general use it is a very stable image. However we tend to try and create problems when testing and of course there are problems and we are now testing a new beta which so far I haven't managed to crash so hopefully an improvement will soon be released.

I have found that with the Enigma2 machines, 800, 8000 and to a lesser extent the 7025, it is best to have the very latest cvs release on flash and to that end I find the Oozoon image a superb image. The reason for the latest release is that DMM are working hard at solving software problems and they issue a new beta image every day. Oozoon are not far behind each DMM official release.

In summary, my recommendation for images would be to have the very latest cvs image on flash and have a number of your preferred images on usb multiboot using barryallen or meoboot. You can then try the different images to your hearts content.

Unfortunately if you have a 500s or a 800 clone you dont have the option to operate in that way and just have to find the image that will work on your box and install it on flash.
