What's the payback on the "free" though?
I know companies such as Google have been keen to offer free wi-fi, but the caveat is that Google loves to collect and store and process personal data in a way that makes me think there's a real issue of privacy concerns developing here. |

I know this is an older thread, but the topic is still a good one. What does it cost to put wi-fi in your house? A friend who lives in a small, resort town just gave wi-fi to the whole village as a gift for $1500 ..about what is it for a home?

My wireless router cost me around £50 - that gives me a wireless network around the house. Currently only use it to connect to broadband when on my laptop downstairs, though.
