Default No signal after a visit from you know who

I have just had XXXXX bb installed. I have turned my eurovox max v box back on and have no signal. The aerial does not appear to have been touched. The connection in the box is split, 1 to bb, 1 to tv. Is it possible to turn off the tv input (i assume not). If not, any bright ideas as to what has happended. I have re set factory settings and power scanned and scanned again to no avail? Location is bedford.

Signal level is probably no longer high enough to support the Eurovox.

I don't know if the problems have been sorted in your area, but there have been a lot of posts from people in the Luton, Bedfordshire area saying that all the channels had gone. May be worth you having a read of more posts to see what, if anything, has been done to resolve the issue. It may be that you were just unlucky that Virgin visited you at the same time as the channels going off.

Thanks Phil

I did read those posts as thought that may be it. Seems the answer was to re set to factory settings and then complete a power scan. I have done all that but no good!!

I don't see how it can be the signal strength as the cable runs into a splitter (as it did before the bb was installed) and there is not a way I could see how the signal would only be low on the tv but fine for the bb.

Anyhow....I will have a go another day and see if anything different happens unless anyone else has any ideas?

Are you scanning on the correct symbol rate for your area? You need to do a factory reset, delete everything, then set your symbol rate, then do a full, deep scan, then re-order your favourites. It's a pain but it should get you there in the end. If you're in Bedford, the symbol rate is 6.887. Scanning on the wrong one will bring up nothing.

yeah I have done that, the scan brings up 11 channels all of which I cannot see. Maybe the box has gone. Very weird.

Its mostly because boxes like the Eurovox etc are not designed for the UK market. They are designed for areas that tend to have much higher cable signal strengths. Right from the word go most of the 3rd party boxes have had signal problems in any many areas that, by VM's definittions, have average signal strengths. VM's average is much, much lower than the average in other parts of the world.

The modem and VM's own boxes are designed to run with the lower signal levels so wont have a problem. The very act of having your modem connected to tthe line will automatically lower the signal strength. You now have an extra 'load' connected to the signal.

I would suggest you disconnect the modem feed at the splitter (duplicate the setup you used to have if possible) and see what happens.
