Sky + Recording Problems

Hi folks

Wonder if anyone can advise me on this. Every now and then my Sky+ box decides to not allow me to use live pause, rewind, etc. If I try to rewind, or pause it shows the corresponding lights on the front, but fails to do anything with the image and sound, eventually after 5 or 10 seconds reloading the channel and clearing itself. This also makes any scheduled Sky+ recording fail.

The only way to resolve this is a powerdown for 30 seconds. I've seen no pattern as to when this happens, and the box is only just 1 year old (a cheeky new replacement box from our friendly Sky engineer when the previous one failled just inside 1 year old!) with no mods.

I have tried system re-set, re-downloading software, formatting the HDD, etc, etc.

I did see somewhere about something to do with the capacitors or resistors on the PSU circuitry, but as I don't see too well, I don't fancy that if it is more involved than unclipping and re-clipping (my solderring is shocking!!!).

Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated (and I'm too tight to pay £65 to Sky to come out and fiddle with it, to tell me it is fine or I need a new box).

Forgot to mention, the box is an Amstrad DRX280. I've just had a quick Google and found (on digitalspy, at least) loads of people slating it. In saying that, I've not really had it freeze up much, and definately no high pitched squeel (that's why the first went back a year ago).
