Default pulling hair out - ambit 200 modem - sigma - Teesside/hpool area

Heya,

posted a day or so ago but think it needs a new thread with fresh perspective.....

Right I live in teesside/hartlepool area. Now at the end of Nov my old modem went off but I left it as was going away and had little time. Now for last couple of days been trying to get it up and running again with no bloody luck and getting frustrating now.

Its an ambit 200 modem with Sigma firmware....AFAIK I cannot use haxorware on this modem.

Right......thanks to someone here I have some valid macs.....and I've been having a play about.

Now one thing I'm not 100% sure of first......

Back then I was running off tftp 10.137.103.3 before it went off.

In the last couple of days since scanning.....it does show my modem (which is a 0014 modem) as being on the 10.137.103.3, but anything else it finds, is usually 10.37.32.1??? So now confused to which tftp I should actually be using.

----
Now........if I try connecting it to 10.137.103.3....."I get Registration failure, re-scanning downstream"

as a result the status page never gets further than here

Acquire Downstream Channel Done
Obtain Upstream Parameters Done
Upstream Ranging Done
Establish IP Connectivity using DHCP Done
Establish Time Of Day Done
Transfer Operational Parameters through TFTP Done
Register Connection

This happens, whether or not BPI is on or off and at version 0 or 1.
-------
Now.....If I do the same...but using tftp 10.37.32.1

If I have BPI disabled....it connects fine with

Acquire Downstream Channel Done
Obtain Upstream Parameters Done
Upstream Ranging Done
Establish IP Connectivity using DHCP Done
Establish Time Of Day Done
Transfer Operational Parameters through TFTP Done
Register Connection Done
Cable Modem Status Operational
Initialize Baseline Privacy Skipped

The internet works - but very occasionally....as the modem goes through the problems of rebooting constantly

The log for this is
Code:
2010-02-10 19:00:27 3-Critical 0x04E33A10 Received Response to Broadcast Maintenance Request, But no Unicast

Maintenance opportunities received - T4 timeout

2010-02-10 18:59:53 7-Information 0x848E0006 T501.0 Acquired Downstream (331000000 Hz)........ SUCCESS
If I do the same...but with BPI turned on - and at both version 0 and version 1

It will not connect but instead the status page gives

Acquire Downstream Channel Done
Obtain Upstream Parameters Done
Upstream Ranging Done
Establish IP Connectivity using DHCP Done
Establish Time Of Day Done
Transfer Operational Parameters through TFTP Done
Register Connection Done
Cable Modem Status Offline
Initialize Baseline Privacy

As you can see the 2nd last line says Offline.

The log gives this....
Code:
3-Critical 0x04E33A10 Received Response to Broadcast Maintenance Request, But no Unicast Maintenance opportunities received - T4 timeout
3-Critical 0x0501BDC8 SYNC Timing Synchronization failure - Failed to acquire FEC framing

Soooo.....any of you have any idea what the hells going on and where I should go from here? You think a haxorware modem will make any difference to it holding the connection?

And should I be using the 2nd tftp even tho on first appearance it looks like its not my tftp - but seems to work?

Default Re: pulling hair out - ambit 200 modem - sigma - Teesside/hpool area

interesting you say about leaving tftp blank....

didn't think the sigmas could be left blank....I'll give that a try though.

What is interesting though.....

But as said in previous posts about dont force config and the config showing info even tho I'd left it blank...I discovered from searching this command

enable force_cfgfile false so its now receiving encrypted configs as it should..so getting somewhere.

I also did enable docsis11 false

Now on the 10.37.32.1 it did nothing - well apart from receiving a config as it should - but still the usual working/rebooting with bpi off, and not working with bpi on.

however for the 10.137.103.3 tftp

where it was previously giving "Registration failure, re-scanning downstream "

It now gives...

Acquire Downstream Channel Done
Obtain Upstream Parameters Done
Upstream Ranging Done
Establish IP Connectivity using DHCP Done
Establish Time Of Day Done
Transfer Operational Parameters through TFTP
Register Connection
Cable Modem Status Offline
Initialize Baseline Privacy

Code:
2010-02-10 19:51:50 3-Critical 0x040D9B58 TFTP failed - configuration file NOT FOUND
2010-02-10 19:51:10 7-Information 0x848E0001 D507.0 Retrieved Time....... SUCCESS
2010-02-10 19:51:10 3-Critical 0x040D9B58 TFTP failed - configuration file NOT FOUND

1970-01-01 00:00:07 7-Information 0x848E0006 T501.0 Acquired Downstream (331000000 Hz)........ SUCCESS
So because of config being removed - the 'old' tftp can't even get as far as it was previously?

Now when I attempted to use

back again....

right - I deleted the tftp settings in the 1337 page....and it obv must get its tftp settings from somewhere - so so far so good in that respect.

Still the similar issues though....

Yes I'm using telnet to enable bpi (and using write each time)

With bpi enabled (and seems to be same regardless of bpi_version 1 or 0)

Code:
2010-02-10 20:22:59 3-Critical 0x04E33A10 Received Response to Broadcast Maintenance Request, But no Unicast Maintenance opportunities received - T4 timeout

2010-02-10 20:22:26 7-Information 0x848E0006 T501.0 Acquired Downstream (331000000 Hz)........ SUCCESS
with BPI disabled I get the reboot problem

Code:
2010-02-10 20:31:24 3-Critical 0x04E33A10 Received Response to Broadcast Maintenance Request, But no Unicast Maintenance opportunities received - T4 timeout

2010-02-10 20:30:50 7-Information 0x848E0006 T501.0 Acquired Downstream (331000000 Hz)........ SUCCESS
so theres 2 errors in the non bpi - about DHCP Warning...and this TLV-11 Illegal Set Operation before it then starts the reboot again.

I've just done a Show command in the cd /n/d folder of telnet....

if it was bad macs though...surely google etc wouldnt work for those brief periods before each reboot?

Also....I did try my own mac...and that was doing the same.....but then that was a 014 mac.

I'll try it now mind - since removing tftp etc...just to see what happens

I figured that with the 0014 macs - tho did plug in my own subbed 0014 to see what would happen - now that I removed the force cfg in telnet and no tftp set.

The similar things happen depending whether bpi is on or off but it gives the "4-Error 0x041D2C1C Configuration File CVC Validation Failure" message.

now the other macs I've tried are all 0002s and 00D0 macs..

I will of course persist with other macs...but pretty sure that at least some of these i've tried so far should have been valid.

And of course....should I keep trying with bpi off where it does connect but reboots - or with bpi where they forever say Offline

about 25 macs tried (sore thumbs from the constant unscrewing of the ruddy cable lol) - not a one made any difference....and at least one of them should have worked.....especially as they work (for split seconds) when using bpi off if get the timing right.

want to smash this thing against a wall now
