i have noticed that the downstream frequency has changed on my modem from 331000000 to 331250000 and was wondering if this might have anything to do with modems going down and possibly a link to fix them

Your donstream frequency hasn't locked on properly. You should be able to correct this in the modem config page.
This can cause slow speeds, intermittant coonection or even no service. |

the modem i am using is my mums paid for modem in another ubr (my house) it connects fine and has been using this frequency for a couple of days. I have been trying for weeks to get my surfboard 5100i back online by enabling and disabling bpi using telnet i am now heading down the path that different macs have different bpi settings so i am going to try certain macs with bpi 1 and bpi 1.1. i trawled through different macs i scanned months ago and was only able to get a 2 meg mac online. this was still with the 331000000 bye the way so i might be wrong with the frequency notification earlier but it was worth a try.
here is the modem log from my mums webstar in my ubr 2010-02-11 23:52:22 information Got a map with the new UCD change count, and changed upstream parms 2010-02-11 23:52:22 information Got a map with the new UCD change count, and changed upstream parms 2010-02-11 23:50:13 information Got a map with the new UCD change count, and changed upstream parms 2010-02-11 23:50:13 information Got a map with the new UCD change count, and changed upstream parms 2010-02-11 23:41:47 information Got a map with the new UCD change count, and changed upstream parms 2010-02-11 23:41:47 information Got a map with the new UCD change count, and changed upstream parms 2010-02-11 23:40:34 critical Started Unicast Maintenance Ranging - No Response received - T3 time-out 2010-02-11 23:40:31 information Got a map with the new UCD change count, and changed upstream parms 2010-02-11 23:40:31 information Got a map with the new UCD change count, and changed upstream parms 2010-02-11 23:38:19 critical Started Unicast Maintenance Ranging - No Response received - T3 time-out 2010-02-11 23:38:17 warning Cable Lost FEC lock 2010-02-11 23:38:17 warning Cable Lost FEC lock 2010-02-11 23:36:39 information Got a map with the new UCD change count, and changed upstream parms 2010-02-11 23:36:39 information Got a map with the new UCD change count, and changed upstream parms 2010-02-11 23:34:08 information Got a map with the new UCD change count, and changed upstream parms 2010-02-11 23:34:08 information Got a map with the new UCD change count, and changed upstream parms 2010-02-11 23:33:35 information Ignore SW upgrade via provisioning: same image! 2010-02-11 23:33:34 notice TLV-11 - unrecognized OID 2010-02-11 23:33:34 notice Interface index:4 LinkUp 2010-02-11 23:33:34 notice Interface index:3 LinkUp 2010-02-11 23:33:34 notice Interface index:2 LinkUp 2010-02-11 23:33:34 notice SNMP COLD_START(SNMP Nmaccess mode) 2010-02-11 23:33:33 information Authorized MAC addr ******************** 2010-02-11 23:33:33 notice Cable Modem Status set to Registration Complete 2010-02-11 23:33:33 information Received REG-RSP from CMTS 2010-02-11 23:33:33 information Sending Registration Request 2010-02-11 23:33:32 notice TLV11#15 node not found 2010-02-11 23:33:32 notice TLV11#14 node not found 2010-02-11 23:33:32 information Processing Configuration File 2010-02-11 02:25:01 information DHCP: IP complete 2010-02-11 02:25:01 warning DHCP WARNING - Non-critical field invalid in response 2010-02-11 02:25:00 warning DHCP WARNING - Non-critical field invalid in response 2010-02-11 02:24:59 debug DHCP_coldstart() successfully 2010-02-11 02:24:57 information Beginning ranging process.
