Hi all,
Am a newbie so not sure if this is the right location for this post. With the CBA action channel (Eurobird 1 28.5E, 12560 V) most nights up until 9pm / 9.30pm we have very low reception around 20% which makes it unwatchable. This also effects another CBS channel. After 9.30pm it climbs up to about 60% signal strength and we can watch it again. Any idea why this happened each day and is there anything I can do to boost the signal? Thanks Eddie. |

You shouldnt be having any problems at all with any channel of the 28E satellite cluster here in the UK.
The two most obvious causes of this sort of signal fluctuation would be a badly misaligned dish or external interference getting into your cabling and blatting the incoming signals at ceratin frequencies.

Wow that was a quick reply.
All our other freesat channels are ok and we live in an apartment block so I am guessing the dish is on the roof somewhere. Would an inline signal booster and a better shielded cable increase reception? Could it be caused by a neighbours WiFi unit thru the wall? |

Boosters are unlikley to do anything useful. It could be all sorts of external sources - for example police tetra radio, dect phones, bt homehubs are all known culprits!
Have a look at the cable from the skybox to the wall. SWitch the box off at the wall, unscrew the connector off the back of the receiver and make sure theres no obvious damage to the outer braid where interfeence could leak in. If the cables are long ebnough move the box a couple of feet and see if the interference diminishes. Unfortunatley this sort of thing is very much trial and error in tracking down the problem.
