Default ipod touch jailbreak?

I have just received a ipod touch from the missus for my birthday on Friday and been told about 'jailbreaking' my ipod to get free apps etc, just wanting to know what are the risk of it screwing my ipod up? And is it fairly straight forward to do?

Cheers for any help and advice

Just did a 2.2.1 iPod Touch 2G in 23 minutes, which includes jailbreaking, adding install0us and patching mobileinstallation [free app downloads]

If you need any help doing it just come on messenger with me and ill help out (:

It's fairly straight forward with the help of google, but make sure it's a semi-tethered or untethered jailbreak - having to plug it in to turn it on is agrivating

Install0us has been shut down voluntary by the owner as he didn't like the way his site was been used.
