Cool modem still on dont want to brick!

hi people,

i was trying to rewrite the bootloader in order to received the 'p' option but while doing so i received the unhandled exception error in soft jtag v3.10, i have tried rebooting the computer and trying to connect to the modem again in softjtag but get the same message, i have also tried the flash bootloader trick with the ambit config tool but still receive the same error message when i go back to softjtag also the disconnect button in softjtag is greyed out, modem has been left on 24 hours as i dont want to brick, anyone got any ideas or different methods i can use to prevent the modem bricking, cheers

you need to make sure nothing has the com port held open, just out of curiosity how far into soft jtag did you get before the error occured had you clicked the write bootloader button selected the file and set it going?

On some (I`ve seen loads) ATX motherboards, when they restart, they can shut off all power to certain ports for a split second, so it is more than possible it is already bricked. All it takes is the MAX232 to lose power for a split second (there aint much in the way of capacitors on them to maintain power!) and the modem will be bricked.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, and I hope I am wrong about your particular modem, but this looks like your problem.

Sorry!

Ambits are a means to an end my friend! They`re like coppers. Fkin everywhere!

Everyone (I think) knows how good motos are esp 5101 so they hang on to them... Like rocking horse turds round here

The "Easiest modem to flash" award has got to go to the Ambit 256 though!

Not quite m8 you should be able to revive one as long as you dont power it off, are you 100% certain its bricked? what happens if you connect the max and then open hyper t and then power the modem on do you get any output, also what lights on the front are flashing?
