Mostly price, directtv's deal for $20 a month, while my cable can't go lower than $50 a month, for basic programming.

I like satellite because it offer more channels than cable for a decent price. I am glad that people are getting satallite more as I think cable charges too much.

I've lived in a couple of areas which were remote enough that the eventuality of ever getting cable wasn't feasible, so I 've had satellite from time to time and love it! Where I am now, it's the first time I've been on cable in years, and I have to say that satellite is far better reception and selection. The only good thing about cable is the high speed internet. But the charges are ludicrous!

I have heard that satellite goes out at every little thing. Like storms and windy days? Is this true? We have though about getting satellite but this was one of the reasons we didn't yet.

I could have sworn I posted an answer to this thread.
Satellite can go out during storms and can get a build up of snow and ice. Make sure you can get to your dish to wipe off the snow and ice. Wind can knock it out too but, usually when you lose the signal, it is just a couple of minutes. I live in a windy rural area with lits of storms but, ahev never had a problem with my satellite. Satallite gives a better quality of picture and generally offers more chanles. If you order Satellite, don't go through a retailer. Go directly to the website or call them, you will get better deals and more accuracy for your order. You can alwasy bundle your phone and internet packages with them afterwords, too.

Well I have decided to get satellite for my husband for Christmas. He has been wanting it for awhile and after reading this thread and others it seems like a lot of people are really happy with it. He will be so happy. Now I just got to see if it is possible for me to get it done without him finding out.

Well, for me I have to take at least one long car trip a month and having the variety and the guarantee of not going out of range is a huge, huge treat.
