Default having trouble picking spot 4 dish.

securedownload1.jpg - File Shared from Box.net - Free Online File Storage

I was thinking fitting some t&k top left of pic with a pole 5-8ft above the gutter (to clear the roof line) with motorised dish, mesh or alu on top, so I can get the arc, as south is blocked due to next doors any ideas ppl

shame I carnt fit it to the chimneys south face

You're better off on the front of the house for a motorised, unless that's not an option. Otherwise, on the back it goes, but you need to see how high, by climbing up there and checking out the roof angle. T&Ks with pole above the gutter, is not a problem.

Yeah, I was about to add, too high and it will sway. Anything above about 3ft maybe 4, depending on dish size, and it sways too much,

or a thicker pole can be used, eg 3inch diameter. My dish is about 5ft out of the ground, and its OK, but sheltered.

Yes, lighter is better, but mesh doesn't make much difference to wind resistance as the holes are too small. But for getting the thing up there, an Aumininium dish would be easier. Though depending on size, it easier to winch it up, rather than carry it.

I'd probably stick a 1m gibby up there, or a TD 88 Triax.

would a 2" aluminium pole 6ft long be ok to hold up a aluminium dish, or would steel be better?

Steel is better, and 6ft probably not long enough. Get a length of scaffold pole.

I would say that the only way he is going to get the dish high enough is the use guy wires to stay the pole.
