Default some N3 CARD INFO

My installer mate told me a few things about the card today and thought i would share.

This could all be BS , so sorry if misleading:

This is what he told me:
Quote:
The n3 cards in my area are causing nothing but trouble. About a hr after the box and new card are paired, the card makes all channels freeze for 2 secs when changing channels. I have had to return to all my jobs and replace with rom11 cards. After chatted to OPS ( place for hits ) they are telling me that every hr , the card resets itself and re pairs itself ( this i beleive is the card looking for keys? ) Also he heard from a tester, that the N3 cards at night reset them selfs for a new code and report back to VM its usage

So what area you in mate, just curious as the only areas that have been using the cards have been Leeds/York, so wondering how this is happening if you are not in that area and presumably neither is your installer?

The cards are working fine in most boxes and exactly as planned but, as with any change, there will always be problem boxes that have difficulty. In most cases, if a box is having difficulty then the engineer should simply be replacing the box. They should not be re-installing old cards as these will be obsolete in a few weeks and then yet another visit will be required.

Thats perfectly proper behaviour for the card. Every two or so hours the card must complete a pairing operation that generates/exchanges a completely new operational pairing keyset. After pairing, the card will encrypt all returned cw's with the new keyset.

The card isn't looking for keys at this point, it actually generates a new keyset and informs the stb of this by requesting a new pairing sequence. On seeing the request the stb should initiate a full pairing sequence and then use the new keyset.

You wont be able to read an N3 card if thats your intention. For the moment, at least, these things are fully secure.

So you know more than anyone else on here. NOBODY has hacked anything to do with N3, by reading cards. Anything that is on Irish channels is using CS as far as I am aware. You are quite welcome the the channels you get from Chorus, just what is wrong with the brains of those who pay them €80 for the cr&p they have on is beyond me.
