Smile Football on foreign channels.

I would like to be able to watch the Scottish football etc on the channels I have seen previously like aljazera and tango tv etc. I think it is hotbird these can be picked up on.

What I would like to know, is what software and hardware is best for this. I will be starting from scratch. Planning on doing this once my dbox is taken off air in easter or when ever it happens with nag 3.

The reason I ask is because I have been to a few pubs now that show lots of football games on all these foreign channels and I want them in my house if I can do it in a reasonably cost effective manner.

Any help, advice will be warmly welcomed.

I understand I will need a sattelite dish and that I will have to subscribe to at least one provider (definately not going sly or vm). So just wondering what the best options are judging by what you may know.

Thanks again.

That is quite expensive. I won't be going with sky Italia. What about this aljazeera though? They get SPL, EPL and the Greek league from what I have seen in pubs. When I was on holiday in Greece one pub must have had at least six sattelites because he had six different football games on aljazeera on.

I read that other tv stations like tango tv etc show SPL games. Anyone know anything about these???

I shoud also add that, I saw some pubs in Scotland too with Aljazeera showing Celtic games. So I know it can be done. Just wondering if anyone on here get's it or any good advice on variants of it?

Cheers.

Thanks. I have been reading a few of these threads on here the last few hours as well as other sites. Getting a bit cock eyed now. Do you know of comparison sites or any advice where I can compare the prices of cards or what ever I need for Pol-sat, tango tv, aljazeera, I get the feeling aljazeera will suit me best. It is for the Scottish Premiere League. If I can get the others then that is great but SPL my priority.

I find when I search for these to buy the cards and find listings it is not so straight forward.

He's a beginner - the LAST thing he needs is a bloody dreambox / linux box of any kind!

If you are after Celtic/Scottish games, it can be done cheaply enough (it is only English Premier League that is prohibitive)!

What you need for gear: say a 1m dish, a decent receiver capable of taking the necessary CAM e.g. a Technomate 5400S, a cheap but decent diseqc motor e.g. Moteck SG2100A, installation (or DIY) and finally a subscription to Al Jazeera. The Al Jazeera subscription will be between £120 and £150 --- so add another £300 for equipment/installation. You should be good to go for £450 all in. You might save a bit if installation is DIY.

The Al Jazeera Card will get you a fair amount of SPL, European Champions League and plenty of other football from Europe and elsewhere including FA Cup etc except English Premier League as previously mentioned.

EDIT I see that original post is actually old; nevertheless I'll leave the post as general info!
