Hi Everyone,
i have a sky + amstrad box, its been upgraded with a bigger hard drive, and i have a problem with it i know its not the hard drive as i have change it out for other ones / sizes and its still the same, sometimes when watching live tv the picture will jump or sound comes in and out then some times you get the messorn yoge - no satalitte picture being received. then if you change the channel up and down it comes back, or you get the message unplug the box for 2 mins then plug back in. any idear's??? some one did say that i should replace the psu in it and that would help also when you do a recording and play it back leter somtimes its ok and other times it will jump / skip / sound go in and out and other times its fine. any advice is greatufully received. thanks neil

Have you checked dish aliment?
Has the fault only appeared after you replaced the HDD?

Yep aliment is fine, lnb fine, even had a sky engineer who lives down the road from me to come and check it out and just in case i got him to move the dish to above the roof line so the only tree which could of been in the way is now not in the way (and called the council and they came and cut the tree back to almost a stump)
as for the HDD i have tryied the original HDD and others and it still happens - my gut feeling is the PSU someone did say replace all the cap's in it or get a pc powersupply and use that to power the hard drive im thinking i need to buy a new box ;-( |

You can get PSU's from satcure and other places. Can't say about the Amstrad but changing/fixing the PSU in an early Thomson cured many problems
