Default Major help needed

Hey guys I'm in need for some serious help.

My cable modem sb5100i went off last week and I have been trying to get it back up and running all week but no luck.

I have read through nearly all threads but cannot find my solution. connected my laptop to modem via ethernet cable, manually changed the IP to 192.168.100.10 and gateway to 192.168.100.1, then opened tftp server and selected haxoware 1.1rev39.bin and opened up putty, but I can not connect to the modem, if I use putty and try to make a connection via telnet then it just closes.

I have tried using tera term pro but I cannot connect to modem, tried many times but no luck. Originally tried port 23 but nothing, tried different ports but still no luck. I am using vista operating system, so I went into programs and features and enabled telnet client, telnet server, tftp client. but still no luck.

I opened up cmd, and typed telnet through there, and then through telnet tried to connect to the modem but still no conection. The modem has got haxoware on it but an old one.

I accessed web page and typed the gateway address there and it shows the surfboard page showing signal, addresses etc but I cannot change anything from there as it will not let me.

I've tried everything but dont know what to do. please guys help me out here I'm pulling my hair out.

This is new for me, I know about mac changing but if I cant connect to the modem, how am I suppose to change mac or even flash the damn thing. need help please.

Haxorware won't work on a 5100. Try accessing the modem @ 192.168.100.1:666 and 192.168.100.1:1337

If no-go you've bricked it, or it's updated to orig FW.

Use a JTAG connection to flash a 2meg dump of 5100mod to it

hey thanx for the reply. I've checked 192.168.100.1:666 and 1337 but no result. I can access the page thru 192.168.100.1 but can't change any details.
if it's bricked, any idea how to unbrick it.

nope, use a jtag and flash 5100mod onto it.

its not bricked if you can reach 192.168.100.1 and adding :666 or :1337 doesn't work, you simply have original firmware on it.

10 pin header, jtag cable and 5100mod dump will do the trick for you

no u need a jtag cable (a.k.a blackcat cable) and a 10 pin header in order for you to flash ur firmware of choice, and u will need swarts or toms jtag utilty to carry out ur flash.

if u get hold of a 2mb dump then no bootloader is needed, otherwise yes you need a bootloader which normally comes with the 5100mod folder
