If you are going for that big a dish I hope you have deep pockets, they are well dear and in my opinion you would be foolish to go for a big expensive dish for something that will require you to have an LNB that will not do for that many channels, but it is your money, but it is be expensive. As AS has said you have no guarantee that it will remain free for long, then, unless you have a use for it the LNB will be no good to you and you will have to buy a ku band LNB for the dish.

Expect to pay £399 for a 1.5 meter solid dish to £749 for a 1.8 solid Andrews dish. For £700 you can get a 12 Month Sky Calcio football card, lol

Thanks gents for your replies,

I bow to your expertise and seen sense and will go with a 1m dish. I have seen one on fleabay

1 x DiSEqC 1.2/1.3 Usals Satellite 120 H-H Motor with GoTo X - 0
1 x 1.0m High Gain Satellite Dish
1 x 0.2 dB - Single Universal LNB
1 x 550mm Steel Wall Mount
1 x 20m Digital Coax Cable + 5 "F" Connectors
1 x Installation Kit & Setup CD

£115.95 free delivery

Would that be an acceptable price for the dish?

Sorry in advance for the stupid questions

Default Re: Setup basics Me too!

Hi I too was hoping to see some SPL games though it's looking less likely than I thought however these things can change from season to season! I have just bought an 80cm Orbital motorised dish and a Dreambox DM600-S PVR so we are in very similar situation! I have yet to get started on my install so i'm looking for as much good info as possible before I get started.

I am in the West Lothian area!

The brackets that come with those kits can be hard work to get plumb, which is essential for a motorised. Your far better with T+K brackets and a bit of Scaffold Pole.

Have you tried Ian at Southern Satellite for your equipment ?

Yes I got 18" T&Ks though opted for a lighter 2" diameter galvanised pole as I required it in 10ft length!

I'll give him a shout, but now i have a far more important problem. I received the Dm800 today i have power to the unit as both ethernet lights are lit, but the front panel does not light and no connection to the TV

Apprantley it's a common problem with these boxes you just need to unplug the power lead and pop it back in again

That is a relief I bet you were in a sweat! Somehow I doubt it will be the last time you'll find yourself pulling your hair out with this box! Keep us posted as you go as I am pretty much at the same stage or I will be once I get down to Maplin for a plug! Perhaps we can save each other some of the stress should we encounter the same problems!
