Hi all, I am new to this forum and have come here with the intention to learn quickly as I have a project in hand and need to execute it in a calculated and professional manner.
I was fortunate enough to come across this forum via google search and so signed up immediately. I will be doing an installation for a client soon - Basically the client will have about 8 TV's in a house. All the TV's will need to clearly display about 6 of the locally transmitted TV channels which are analogue transmissions at the moment but will be turned digital in the near future. The client will also have DSTV (Sat Link/Channels). I'll really appreciate it if you could kindly give me a step by step explanation on how to approach the coax cable installation. The anntena(s)/Dish will be installed on the roof, I would like all the coax cables to come to one junction box and then from there to run to each room. The lengths are long so RG6 is out of the question. I'll need to use wf100 or ct100 as far as I am concerned. Please advise. I have read about Signal Amps with noise filters that enhance your signal and reduce the noise. I want all the TV's in the house to have crystal clear receptions without any snow effect. Any help in the matter will be highly appreciated, I have a decent IT and networking background so I presume it should not be too difficult for me to grasp. Best regards, Sam |

To be honest, its best that you consult a professional on this matter, and maybe sub some of the work out to him, as the system will need to be properly designed. One thing I would say though is that wf100 is the bare minimum of cable quality you should be looking at, it would depend on the cable run lengths.
Where are you located, I may know someone in your area.

I completely agree with Robbo on this one. It's easy to get something wrong with a system like that. And alot of factors to consider.
If the runs are too long for RG-6 then wf100 would be a minimun and TBH I would look at installing wf165. You will want to look at multiswitches, and duplexed wall plates. Forget the amplifiers, they will in a few instances pull you out the poo, but there is no way a system should be designed with these in mind, With the exception of large IRS systems for hotels and apartment blocks etc where the signals are feeding many points.
