Firefox doesn't automatically execute scripts (especially ActiveX) like Internet Explorer uses - which makes it more secure as this is one major way in which malicious code can be executed just by landing on the page.
However...all that being said, I'm finding each new version of Firefox becomes less and less friendly. It's had real problems with Adobe Acrobat, and after recently upgrading, for some reason I'm having trouble copy/pasting in Firefox. Currently I use both browsers - I surg my own sites with IE for the Alex and Google Toolbar installs, which can tell both companies that my sites are getting regular traffic. ![]() |

FireFox is pretty cool plus it is open source usually meaning fast critical updates. Also the tab browsing is great as you do not need to open more windows up. As said though above it is more and more everyday becoming over bloated and a resource hog.

I got into firefox because of IE boat. It is the same reason I left netscape for IE. At some point I may leave Firefox for something else that is more efficent and more streamlined.
Although adding extensions is my own darn fault, I do feel like Firefox is getting bigger and bigger and the performance has degraded in the past few years. |

One of the big point was mentionned above, ActiveX controls are sometimes being run silently from IE, which is not always a good thing.
Secondly, since IE is still more popular than Firefox, it is just normal that hackers or random trouble-maker spend more time finding methods to harm through IE. ![]() |

I have been wondering the same thing, so this thread was very helpful, thankyou. I use IE just because...I've never really considered changing. If i mention it I tend to get gasps of horror and reccomendations that I change to Firefox but o one actually tells me why

As mentined above, I enjoy the tabbing feature of Firefox, and the lack of pop up windows all over the place. The performance of FireFox is going South, so I go between Firefox and IE depending on what site I am going to and what I want to do.
