Default Mates Sa2100, works at mine, but not his house.....

I'm a bit of a noob at this, but did fix my own 256 a few weeks back by enabling BPI in Haxorware (Big thankyou to the forum for this by the way)

Mate of mine in work was complaining the guy who fixes his has switched his phone off and he's had no net for about a month now)

I offered to have a look.

His modem is a SA 2100, not sure what it was flashed with!! Was quite similar to haxorware, without ever being called that in the web interface.

Anyway, I enabled bpi and made sure no configs were being forced..

Bingo, it was working at my place. Gave him it back yesterday, today he tells me it's still not working. Gets a "failed to connect to dhcp server" message.

My inital thought was the mac, as the modem works with me. Told him to give me it back, I'd look into it.

Is there anything else aside from the MAC it could be?

Will post more details when I get the modem back from him, just looking for some ideas

Cheers

He needs to change the mac address of the device connecting to the modem! if its his pc then either change it in the adapter properties or use SMAC if its a router then look for a tab titled mac address clone or something similar within the routers setup pages

Cheers mate

Just spoke to him, he's dropping it off at mine later tonight. Told him to drop the router in too

Should the router's mac address match one of the macs in the modem?

No mate. Clone the PC mac address but change some letters numbers. I normally change the last digit one higher.

BTW if you thinking of changing PC mac address, then the newer intel chipsets don`t allow you to change the mac of the NIC. But i guess that dont really affect you as you running thru a router...Just thought id mention it

If its connected to a router SMAC is irrelevant you need to spoof what ever device the ethernet port of the CM is connected to, as you have mentioned a router it will be the mac address for the WAN port that needs doing I prefer to completely randomise it rather than just one digit but thats up to you, if the router doesnt have the option in the f/w check and see if it can run DDWRT as this deffinately has it!
