Default blackberry not sending/recieving pic msgs or emails

okay so i bought a blackberry pay&go from 'a man with a dog' about a year ago for a very cheap price. the thing is i have never been able to get the settings up and running in order to get full use of it.

basically, i cant send/recieve emails or pic messages. spoke to o2 but they said i had to get in touch with blackberry - seems strange to me?? - to get it set-up for emails etc. obviously prefer not to get in touch with blackbaerry incase the phone was hot and it ends up blocked.

has anybody out there have any ideas on how to solve this problem??

cheers in advance

Firstly I'm going to assume that whatever SIM/account you have with 02 has been enabled for e-mail/MMS.

Have you set up an account with o2/blackberry for e-mail? (I'm with Orange and they have a dedicated portal just for BB's where you can manage what e-mail accounts interact with my handheld - crucially this is also where service books can be resent to your BB).

If you've not done so already, get hold of the BB desktop management s/w (free from their site) and d/l the latest versions of s/ware for your model - it'll scan your BB and tell you what needs updating. Once this is done I'd seek out 02's portal (if they have one) and tie up the accounts you want to use there. This will send updates to the phone as well.

That should cover it - I can't see the HS being blocked otherwise it wouldn't work as a phone either.

Your mobile account has to be setup to allow you to send and receive emails. I'm charged for Blackberry Internet on my Orange account which covers the emails.

Was always wondering if you had to pay extra for a Blakberry account, how much extra a month do they charge Robbo?

I know this wasn't directed at me, but for info, in my case I get the following for £20 per month:

400 mins talk (any network/time)
300 Texts (never use more than 10 per month)
Unlimited* Internet access

*There is a supposed cap at 500mb, but you'd need to be a serious user to hit that because of the compression tools used for mobile data.

I think its about a fiver, I don't look at my phone bill because its too scary.

It has to subsidise the cost of Blackberry itself, and typically I went for the most expensive phone. I do get loads of minutes and text though, never had to pay for extra calls, and I spend a long time on the phone.

The email is sooo useful though, all that luvverly spam I keep getting.

Discount Pharmacy!! Shove it up your ****!!

Depends how you look at it - my previous contract was £25 per month and was for a straightforward phone. I consider what I get for less than a pound a day to be very good value, especially when the handsets do so much as well.

Still, we're all different

sounds like i need to d/l latest software for my model - had it for almost a year now and never updated it in anyway - then get updates for phone. i'll go and hunt for that just now mate, now what you mean about the handset not being blocked coz then surely calls/txts would be blocked

cheers ray
