Default LNB problem or not

hi just moved into my new home,
connected the cable to the dish {that was all ready there but no cable attached to it} and then too the receiver, Switched on the receiver is says no single where am i going wrong, is the dish pointing in the wrong position or is there something wrong with the LNB how can i find out which is at fault.

You could try re-aligning the dish, see if you can get it to work, you could try a new LNB, you could check your cable is OK, you could check your line of sight.You could also check that your receiver works. It is a process of elimination.

How do i re-aligning the dish.
I have checked the receiver i know that working fine.
I did use a Ariel cable would that be the problem!!!

You can't use aerial cable. You must use proper satellite cable.

Eliminate that first.
