Hi everyone, this is my very first post and im hoping you may be able to help me with a strange situation.
A couple of weeks ago i obtained a special smt2100c from a local guy. Im curious about modifications etc so iv been reading various threads on this and other forums to get the gist of how mod boxes work etc and i think i understand the basics. The box was working fine until one day it got stuck on ap52 so i sent it back having sussed that there was a netid issue (which there was..09999 instead of 4****). Anyways, i got the box back and all working again however iv notice that the light which should be flashing when the talkback is cut no longer flashes, setting state that return path is on and in EM menu interactive status says ok... having paniced for a bit, i opened up the box and followed a tutorial and sure anough, the tb resistors had been removed. its also worth adding that i cant get any interactive or on demand chanels, although bbc red button still works, and when i check the history of the box, it frequently says tb connection attempted, tb connection failed. Slightly confused as to whether im safe or not, it looks 50/50. Any help or advice would be much appreciated.. Thanks in advance R |

You should say Hi in new members section first mate. But he may have cut the led out, click settings on remote, then 6 for technical stuff and then red button to see if the stb has an IP if no ip talkback is cut or no return path.

Thats the other thing, it appears to have an IP and mac address.. return path thing is on, light is defo still there, all signs suggest tb is still active but the r416/417 resistors are not anywhere in sight and on demand services arent available. v.puzzled... i read a tutorial about how to stop the light flashing when tb is cut but i v.much doubt that the local guy would go to those lengths off his own back..
when the box booting up, the tb light flashes but when it clicks on to the first channel it goes solid again.

If you have an IP and return path is ON then talk back is not cut, look below the cable that plugs into the silver box where you plug cable feed in.

Hi Andy thanks for that,
I had the box open last night, they are defo cut/removed.. like i said, in the box log, there is reference to tb attempt and then tb failed a second later and on demand doesnt work. Obviously I dont wanna use the box at all whilst this is an issue. Have you ever come across anything like this before? Before i sent the box back to the bloke it was flashing away nicely, just hope he hasnt tried to jip me with an un-modded box for any kinda spiteful reason but i dont think he would have. |

Iv not personally cut or touched anything inside the box.. The bloke was meant to take care of all that. I will double check everything when i get in today but when i looked last nite there was defo no resistor/gizmo of any sort where R416/417 is marked..
Thanks for feedback provided so far, much obliged |

c427 and c428 should be removed as well as r414 and r413,like said above if in the settings menu - technical stuff it should say talk back off if it says talk back on then....its on!
