Default Sky & Virgin agree on 6 HD channels to launch on cable this year?

Well I hope this is going to be fact not fiction

quote from DS forum:

"This is not in the public domain so obviously there is no source but I know this person quite well, these are the channels said to have been agreed:

Bio HD
Sky Arts 1 HD
Sky Arts 2 HD
Sky Real Lives HD
Nat Geo Wild HD
C&I HD

A notable exception is Sky1 HD but these are better than nothing!"

Another lets wait and see for you to ponder

Apart from Nat Geo, seems like a waste of bandwidth to me.

Why do they keep pushing very minority channels onto HD whilst ignoring the important ones ?

Who actually watches Sky Art ?

It seems like a way to increase the HD channel count on the cheap without actually providing anything worth watching.

tbh, I'd rather VM went out and bought some more decent SD channels independantly of Sky rather than unecessarily filling space with rarely viewed HD channels.

Not only that but the majority of hows on the discovery type channels are repeats of those I was watching years ago when I was stupid enough to pay Sly, these are not recorded in HD and are just upscalled. At least BBC, for all it's failings, mostly put out HD content, not upscalled. I have said it to friends before now and I will say it here now, Sly do not do all that much real HD content, the vast majority is just upscalled SD, they are conning people into thinking that it is HD. The football might not even be HD, I have not seen it yet to know, but even I would be surprised if it were not.

Eurosport HD and Discovery HD

Posted February 10th, 2010 Two new HD channels will be added to the Virgin Media lineup soon. Eurosport HD will be added in April and Discovery HD will be added in the spring. Both channels will be free for XL TV customers, as are the rest of the high definition channels on Virgin TV. Virgin Media have promised further [...]

Maybe VM are waiting on the latest Ofcom ruling before they can give us the
HD channels that most customers want ie. HD sports/movies etc
anyway seems to be just a rumour and everything we get on cable comes down to money.
One thing for sure more HD channels are welcome as long VM dont apply a surcharge
like Sky.
I do expect Sky to give more channels to VM as soon as they confirm the N3 rollout
has been completed on the cable platform and that encrytion is proved secure again.

Don't know what country they are in, but I should have thought that the UK would have the same seasons as we do, and here April is most defiantly Spring here.

Ofcom ruling is due next month and if they rule in favour of Virgin and BT Sky will have no option but to lower the price they charge both of these providers for movies and sport channels. They will also have to hand over the Sky branded HD channels as well as the Red button features for Sky sports at a reasonable price.
