Unhappy Oyster and Fortec Star

Not being a TV addict I hardly know the difference between a satellite dish and a wok.
I recently bought a caravan with an OYSTER automatic seeking satellite dish and controller hooked up to a Sky /Pace Minibox. I wanted to change this for a free to air (FTA) sat box. Once I disconnect the minibox the dish won’t work, the display is blank and the dish won’t respond to the search or close buttons. As soon as I connect the co-ax back to the minibox it works. If I disconnect the power to the minibox the dish won’t work again. It’s as if the OYSTER controller box is fed from the minibox via the co-ax but the controller has it’s own 12V DC feed. Any ideas???? The FTA box I'm trying to use is a Fortec Star bought from Maplins.

What channels are you trying to get? If you are only after FTA then the Sly box will give you them, you do not need a card for the FTA channels.
