Default WSXGA screen on a WXGA+ laptop?

Hi I have an Asus x56V which had the WXGA+ screen cracked on so I had it repaired. However the icons are small as it seems to default to 1680 x 1050. Changing DPI or resolution (next option down is 1400 x 1050) make display look poor and a mess of mixed font sizes for windows and application, certainly not like it was before

As WXGA+ is 1440 x 900 do you think that they have fitted the wrong screen (WSXGA+?)? Shouldn't it default to 1440 x 900?

If it was the right replacement screen shouldn't the display look the same without readjustment? Or am I wrong?

Thanks
