Default DNS issues

Terribly sorry for TW being down a few hours this morning - when bringing in a few news sites to merge into TW last night, there was a problem with the site DNS - ie, the internet address records for the server.

These were rebuilt at 4am by one of the server techs, but was compiled for a secondary IP the server uses, which took down every website on the server.

Anyway, got it fixed now and shouldn;t be any more problems with this - I'm very annoyed it happened, and it's very embarrassing the tech got it wrong - but now corrected.

My apologies again for the issue - now going to make final preparations for the forum merger...

Uploading the last files, create a duplicate forum with exact same settings, test merger data.

I'll be working on this through most of the day to ensure it's smooth, and will have to close the forums down for about 1-2 hours to ensure all data is merged, and new posts aren't lost.

Should be a fun job.

Just a couple of slight technical issues to fix, so the site may go a little screwy within the next 10 minutes, then should be fine.

Really sorry I didn't pick this up earlier - now fixed again and hopefully that's the end of the matter.

The entire problem is that when we moved to the DDoS protection, we got moved to a new server within the first week. However, all DNS records on the newer server still corresponded to the old server address.

This wasn't picked up until last night, when corrections were made to the new addresses, and then further updates were required later on to ensure TW was pointing to the right DDoS protected IP.

All *should* be fine now, though I'm pee'd off the site has been up and down through the day - but I expect that will be the end of the matter and no more DNS issues. Touch wood.

Just out of interest, do you also happen to own "Britecorp" I contacted the webmaster and his name was "Brian Turner" May be a coincidence though

Yes, that's the name of my company, though it has a trading name of "Brite Media" which is what TW is officially run under.
