I suspect there wont actually be much in the way of competition. BT will simply use the money to improve broadband to areas which have historically had no interest from either VM or BT (ie outlying towns and villages).
I cant actually see BT laying fibre in areas that are already served by a reasonable cable infrastructure, at least not for many years to come. Remember the aim isn't to improve the current situation to the majority of people, its simply to make sure the minimum broadband speed is available to all no matter where you are ! |
