Default Re: Broadband tax to be levied

I suspect there wont actually be much in the way of competition. BT will simply use the money to improve broadband to areas which have historically had no interest from either VM or BT (ie outlying towns and villages).

I cant actually see BT laying fibre in areas that are already served by a reasonable cable infrastructure, at least not for many years to come.

Remember the aim isn't to improve the current situation to the majority of people, its simply to make sure the minimum broadband speed is available to all no matter where you are !

Which means all they will be offering or improving is that horrid technology they call ADSL I cant stand it and it is deffinately not the direction to go for future proofing our countries infrastructure, it needs to be fibre but the cost is obviously to prohibitive. But it is going to get to a point where you simply can't make an ADSL line better especially with the horid levels of contention that most ADSL providers run at. Also what was this revolutionary 21cn network BT where banging on about is this just another POTS implementation?
