Well there's a new angle. I've got 5 sky boxes, 4 NTL/Virgin Boxes, and a BT Vision Box. All elapsed contracts. No-one has ever asked for them back.

How hard is this? Let's make it simple. Where is a link to Sidewinder? I can't find one.

No live links to boxnet allowed, Its in the MOSC folder in " other cable tv " not much use to you unless you have an unlooper though.

VM,s policy is to collect the boxes once all contracts have expired - that includes telephone and internet contracts (you are usually entitled to a tv box for the free channels with either internet or phone).

And yes, people can and do get charged if they no longer have the box. You cannot simpy dispose of the box or use it for other purposes when it suits you. VM boxes ALWAYS belong to VM. Ownership never reverts to the customer, unlike Sky boxes.

Although Virgin, have been known to tell the customer to dispose of their box themselves, presumably beacause they are the old crap that no-one will take. Dunno if that counts as transferral of ownership or not.

Actually it doesn't. Its simply an instruction to dispose of the equipment by proper means. It doesn't give you the right to take ownership.

tbh, you should probably refuse VM's request to dispose. It is their legal responsibility and obligation to do this and they have no right to delegate these responsibilities to a customer.

Ok then. I'll use the NTL Pace box. They don't exist anymore, and yes, I do have an unlooper.

News to me !

If they dont exist how come 10's of thousands of customers still have them ?

If your referring to the fact that the box doesn't mention VM anywhere on it then that legally doesn't matter. When VM were created, they effectively took over ownership of all properties and aspects of all previous companies involved in the name change/merger.

A box which has NTL on it is owned by VM to exactly the same degree as any other of their boxes.

I agree with the above post, any cable box that says NTL, TW or Virgin Media on it still legally owned by VM even if they don't have the Virgin Media logo on them.

the only equipment that is yours is a sky box after 12 months. All cable boxes be in ntl , tw, c&w are only rented as per terms of service as i posted a few weeks ago

terms 12 or something
