Phone 150 and select "I'm thinking of leaving" then Say Sky have offered you a better deal as negotiating point for price reduction.......I'm sure the phone rep will tell you their standpoint about being tied. So you'll get their understanding and maybe a bit off bill!

PS - if you cancelled your Direct Debit, they'd just withdraw the service, can't imagine they'd try to pursue you through a Civil Court action for 5 months.

Just make sure you have phone, net and TV in place so not without and good credit rating in the ether as probably all they'd do is give you 1 neg.

When I was trying to get out of my virgin contract I was told that if I cancelled my direct debit, virgin would send a debt collector around to get the money and I don't doubt that they would do that.

A couple of months ago a bill from O2 appeared saying I had £15 unpaid from a contract that ended a few years ago. I thought it was just idiotic and ignored it. A few weeks later I got a letter from a debt collection agency.

So it does happen even for small amounts of money.

Having received the service for 7 months you are assumed to have agreed to the contract.

You will have to pay any EDF (early disconnection fee) if you want to leave now.

Under no circumstances simply stop paying your DD - Virgin Media will assume you are just not paying your bill and start adding fees for non-payment, etc and this will eventually lead to disconnection and a visit from the debt collectors.

Why are you leaving?

You might want to tell them you are moving to a non-cabled area??
Might be worth a shout?
