Default Guide To Get Your Modems Back Online

Ok I figured I would make a guide on getting modems back online using correct stealth
settings and correct mac's. I have spent hours this morning going through thread after
thread to get the information I needed to get back online. All the information is in
the forums but it's buried and spread across many threads and posts so I thought some
of you still struggling to get online might find it useful.

Here goes

First use DHCP SNIFFER let it run for an hour or so then export the macs it find
to a text file. Using the information below filter out the unusable macs so your
only left with DOCSIS 1.0 BPI macs.

Usable DOCSIS 1.0 BPI macs

OO:02:##:##:##:## ?
OO:08:##:##:##:## Motorola Surfboard
OO:40:##:##:##:## Webstar EPC2100
OO: D0:##:##:##:## ?

Unusable DOCSIS 1.1 BPI+ macs

OO:13:##:##:##:## Motorola Surfboard
OO:14:##:##:##:## Ambit 255/256
OO:19:##:##:##:## Webstar EPC2100
OO:0E:##:##:##:##

Once you have a valid mac list you will need to trade it with a user in a UBR
close to you (Trading on the forums is not allowed so don't bring it up here). Once
you have traded and have a list of usable DOCSIS 1.0 macs you need to take one and
calculate ethernet and usb macs.

**Important**
You Must Trade, Using A MAC From Your UBR Will Not Work And Could Get You Caught.
**Important**

Download "MAC_Calculator_v1.0.1" here then extract and open it.
Enter a 00:02* 00:08* 00:40* or 00: D0* mac into the "BASE MAC" section.
Click "Calculate MAC" and it will generate "HFC", "ETH" and "USB" mac addresses.
In the example below the hfc mac used is 00:40:11:22:33:44, This mac is not real
do not attempt to use it.

Now connect your modem with Haxorware installed via ethernet but dont connect the
cable feed. Go to the "Addresses" page and enter the "HFC" "ETH" and "USB" macs you
calculated with "Mac Calculator v1.0.1". We also need to change the serial number,
the serial needs to be the hfc mac without the colons.
so if the hfc mac was 00:40:11:22:33:44 then the serial would be 004011223344
Once you have entered the macs and serial click "Save"

Click the link to the "Baseline Privacy" page.
From the dropdown menu select "BPI (Docsis 1.0)".
Click save.

Click the link to the "Stealth" page.
Using the information Below enter the settings for "Vendor" "Model" and "Software Version".
Then enter settings for "Hardware Version" and "Bootloader Revision".
Then check the checkboxes for "Override Hardware Version" and "Override Bootloader Revision".

The above settings are for an Ambit 256. Once you have entered these stealth settings
power off your modem, then connect the live cable feed. Power the modem back up and go
to the overview page. It should pass all tasks and return the Operational status.

Tips.
1 - Keep trying the macs to find a 20mb you will come across one eventually.
2 - Connect modem direct to a PC while configuring, reconnect to a router once it is setup.
3 - When wanting to know what mac belongs to what modem for stealth settings check this site

If I have missed anything out or have got anything wrong please tell me and I will edit the post.
Also a big thanks to everyone on these forums helping me and others out all the information in
this post has come from reading through these forums.

Enjoy

Cheers mate, some great info here.

One thing I've been wondering about recently is the stealth settings, do these want to match my modem or the cloned MAC?

Thanks for writing this up, I'll give it a go on some troubled modems when I get a chance.

Looks like maybe you're running the 'LITE' version 50pounds?
As long as you have the 'disable snmp agent..' tickbox ticked, the rest of the stealth page doesn't matter now.

Nice post

Put the stealth for an A120/200 in. No way of knowing what modem it's actually for, but best guess: use a200 details.
