Default Simply question that never gets answered

Would be grateful if someone could give me a heads-up on how to:

- dump a 2100 via jtag, full dump (as if bx was to be cloned, which would never be done of course)
- same as above but for 4000

It is for a very worthwhile end, the results of which I will share once tested

Simple solution - lift the chips and read via a programmer !

As its not normally something that would get done and you really must do it via jtag then your probably going to have to discover how to do it for yourself. I doubt there are any tutorials etc.

Programs like Jkeys are fairly simple to suss out if you go through the various readme's and take a look at the config files. You may also need to check which flash is in your target box and download/examine the datasheet for it in order to determine the proper jtag settings.

If there any any EEproms in the box that you also need reading then lift and read in a programmer. Serial EEproms are pretty hard to do via jtag as you effectively have to know everything there is to know about how your target hardware is conneted/configured.

'Ghetto' cardshare for N3 I presume.
Yeah as the coder said you'll be on your own with this one.

I've no idea if this would work, but you could try detecting and dumping the flash with modem tools such as 'Toms JTAG utility'.

Other than that, have a look at using some of the JTAG tools from macraigor.com..besides the usual OCD commander

Brilliant Idea man!

So the whole process of cloning a stb like modems would be possible? But im wondering if there are any UBR Restrictions like the modems have.

could anyone shed some light on this?

Thanks

You can clone a box fully if you really want to but, tbh, its mostly pretty pointless. It certainly wont get you vod or anything like that (not for long anyway, and the owner of the original donor box will likely be in trouble - vm know that for a full clone you have to have access to the original)

As far as cloning the boxkey/rsa info then it may work but again, what would be the point ?

cs on an ex-provider stb would require some form of card slot dongle to connect to the cardserver. More trouble than its worth in most cases, especially with more specialist boxes being relatively cheap.

True, Dreamboxes for cable which support CS can be had for as litle as £50 new. But i don't think we're allowed to go into specifics.

Exactly what I mean and even cheaper than I thought !

tbh, I doubt the relevant card-dongle for an ex-subbed box can be had for much less than that kind of money and its likely to be a whole site more problematical.

damn right its ghettO, brO. i like that, ...do you somehow separate the ghetto pursuit of cable CS, from any other route to say internet or otherwise, that involves an alternative to legit subs??

I dont see why I should ever be on my own when exploring new approaches or ideas to current problems. surely this is the most basic principle of these forums, n'est pas?? ))

firstly, thanks 2all for the various suggestions and tips, ...my aim is not as crude as a simple clone-n-play,
also f respect for a member and their posts is based purely on post count and time since joining, may I suggest for some of you to be less judgemental because we all have various degrees of experience in different areas, and move/comtribute across many different forums. hence stats dont always tell the whole picture bout someone

cheers
