Well got the beta cs3. To be honest, those who have not yet used cs2 should go that path first. Cs3 seems a bit pointless in many aspects and it seems adobe is trying to convince us that we NEED this and that when in fact it is the same old processes renamed. There are many ways to skin a cat...get my drift?
Cs2 did have some great new features, cs3 has not gone far enough to justify the upgrade IMO. Give it time and I may change my mind if I find something amaxing going on.

I have Photoshop, but Picassa (free from Google) works in a pinch as well. Picassa is basically one-click quick editing.

I blatantly use Photoshop for real image-editing stuff - but I actually find myself using the tweaking features in Picasa for not-so-important stuff.

Nice little feature set. Great for organising your pictures too.

I use Photoshop, or at least about 1% of it.

It is a very extensive programme and if you have time it will do just about anything. I also have a Photoshop help programme that is indexed and has a button by button guide to the options. The trouble is that my memory is not up to it so I forget as soon as I shut the help down.

I use Paintshop Pro but find Adobe Photo Elements better for cutting and pasting images into other photos. Every one of them needs time to play about with the various settings, and I agree that a printed out instruction manual would be useful. The software which came with my Olympus camera works well. but on downloading pictures from the camera, it buries the fille several layers down in a complicated sequence, beginning with "All Users".
