Hi All just a quick couple of neebie questions a found a working mac address it is about 8 miles away from me is o.k to use or does it need to be further? also if do speed checks is possible to get from 8b to force it any faster. many thanks for any help.

If it works then keep using it, it's fine. You can't force MACs to higher speeds...you'd need to find a faster MAC.

TBH now you'll not get faster than 10.

8 miles away should be fine mate. He went away from home to sniff, which is just as good as trading MACs

Im on 20 mate u can but you need to have old macs lying around that was sniffed from a while back.
Actually i have 12 20 meg macs from a while back.

I found a 20Mb MAC in a list that I sniffed over the weekend, is this just pure luck?

I used to have a lot of 120 20m macs here but the suddenly all went off.

either getting unreg or cancel configs. Can only assume here they sent new modems to everyone on 20m on an old modem

It's an older surfboard MAC I'm using, I know somebody else locally who's also using surfboard MAC's.

Guess I'm just lucky to live in a TW area.
