Default Running costs

Just a quicky as I get asked a lot about running cost on the various tv types.

Plasma wattage useage top end is higher than both LCD and led but like an led (rgb/oled) will fluctuate depending on the colours it has to produce ie blacks = low consumption, whites = high consumption.

Lcds are constant and the wattage use never really changes

Lcds and plasmas over the peice will use relatively similar amounts.
LEDs up to 40% more cost effective

most tvs have light sensors built in and Eco modes to help reduce costs and some even have motion sensors that will switch the tv off if it thinks no ones in the room.

We have a lg 42" TV with the settings on "cinema" That consumes about 75W.If I was to want a vivid bright display, it would use 250W

The following calculations are based on an electricity cost of 0.17/kw and running for 15 hours a day.With a power of 75W, it costs £5.35 .monthly and £64.26 annually

With a power of 250W, it costs £17.85 monthly and £214.2 annually

In the long run, LED is more cost effective and they look nicer!

As they say beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but if you dig deeper and look closer.... Unless it's one of the lg 9000 models as they are pretty well finished and look the shiz.

oops made a mistake. It uses 150W making running costs double and its rated at 230W

We have an LG42 3000 model

If only my parents listened to me...

If you want to workk out running costs, use this calculation

a=electricity cost per kw
b= electricity cost per watt
c= amount of wattage(of appliance)
d=consumption(hours) per day
e= electricity cost per day

a/1000=b
b*c*d= e
e*7= weekly bill
e*7*4= monthly bill
e*7*4*12= annual bill

Hope this helps
