Question Nagravision CI CAM

Just seen this on a website .Is it able to open nagra 3 ?
Nagravision CI CAM
Common Interface Module
This Nagravision CI CAM is a non-service specific CAM meaning that it will work fine on whatever Nagravision using service you will want to use it for when this CAM supports Nagravision versions 1, 2 and 3 and no doubt more versions in the future.

Recommended services to use this CAM with are Virgin Media (v1) in the UK, StarHub TV in Singapore, Dream Satellite TV (v3) in the Philippines, Polsat (v3) in Poland, TV Cabo (v3) in Portugal, Sky/Premiere (v3) in Germany, Digi TV (v2 & v3) in Romania, Bell TV (v3) and Look Communications in Canada, Reliance BigTV in India, Dish Networks (v3) in the United States, UPC (v1 & v3) in Ireland, Telenet (v2) in Belgium and even more unmentioned services.

The only known service NOT to use this CAM for is the TopUpTV service part of the UK's Terrestrial Freeview service who make use of Nagravision Cardmagedon and Aladin versions, which are a cross between Nagravision and Mediaguard, or other words not part of the Nagravision versions 1, 2 and 3 that this CAM does support. Tried this mutant and failed.

To use this CAM simply insert this CAM into your receiver's Common Interface CAM slot and by then inserting your Nagravision card then the picture should then clear.
The exception to this insert and work operation is if the service in question is making use of the Nagavision system's BoxKey feature which means before the picture clears the viewing card and CAM need to be mated. This mating is either done when inserting a new subscription card into the CAM for the very first time, or you will need to contact your service provider armed with the CAM's serial ID number.
The CAM's serial number / BoxKey you can see just below the barcode in the following photo.
Other viewers with their own Nagravision firmware just need to make sure that their firmware contains this BoxKey value converted from the displayed decimal number to the required hexidecimal number where that is easily done on any scientific calculator.
In all an easy CAM to use which goes to explain why I have already sold very many Nagravision CAMs without ever hearing of a serious usage problem... beyond TopUpTV that is.
NOTE: The CAM's manufacturer is SCM and not GemPlus as shown in the photo. SCM now make all CAMs...

Hi mate hate to burst your bubble, but if you expect to stick the CAM into a box and clear anything, without the proper card for the service you are trying to clear, then no. Without a paid up VM card in the CAM it is just a CAM ( conditional access module) it is nothing other than a piece of plastic and metal. Nothing will open VM without a paid up card.

....and it wont open VM anyway as they would refuse to pair their cards to anything but one of their provided boxes. VM will not pair to cams, even official ones !

It does not matter what you are going to use it for, it will not open anything unless you have a paid up card for that provider, simple as. Save your money mate, it is only a CAM, nothing special.

The Nagra cam is a box of electronics that reads a card nothing else - it wont decrypt a pay provider on its own.

Hi,
Do you know where to buy the Nagravision Cam, designed by SCM, because I only found websited that sell the one made by GemPlus.
This is made by SCM.

And this one made by GemPlus:

I hope it helps, and everyone that have any idea where I can buy the 1st one, please let me know.

BTW, I did contact all the UK suppliers for SCM, and they don't have it.
Cheers,
Dan

In terms of functionality, it really shouldn't make a difference who manufactures them. If the GemPlus units are still being sold then the updates for them to work with the latest cards must still be in-stream so they should work in an identical manner to the SCM ones.
