Default Bt home hub question

hi guys just wondering if someone could clarify this for me will a bt home hub work on virmin media as a wireless router?
i know bt is adsl and vm uses cable but just wanted to know if there is anything for this to make it work.
i know it might sound a silly question lol but my mate asked me and i wasnt sure wot to tell him

wont work full stop, as the connection is a phone line and vm modems are all network connected

AND YEP a silly question does he know as well that a hub for bt is in fact to numbers? one for his home and one for that router for the net?
