Default Starview HD combo media compatibility

Hi everyone,

Just ordered this box from Lincsats shop but wanted to ask a basic question:
What formats can it play as a media player (as I understand you can just hook up your external HDD with movies on for example through USB)? Avi? Xvid? Mkv?
Does it support subtitles (.srt or .sub)?

Any info much appreciated

Will let you know later tonight mate.
Try plugging a USB with an .mkv HD file and try run it from the USB menu.
It will answer your question.

Plays: AVI, Xvid, Divx.
Does Not play: MP4 (plays fine short while then cuts sound through rest of movie).
Not Tested: mkv.

..and obviously it plays the format it records in, cant remember ext now.

btw has anyone noticed poor playback quality on PC of recorded programs? When playback on STB its clear as the channel i watched it on though??

Will check that out later tonight mate, and report back.

Will filter this to the SV developement team, and see if there will be anymore future codec support.

while your at it mate....can you ask them if there is a new fw coming for the box...as the one ive got causes too much glitching and freezing on the sat side of cs sharing..ive tried all the fw out..and at least 5 different servers..some whic are suppose to be top quality..ive removed the cover of the box and put a usb fab underneath it, thinking it may be a heat issue, but still the same..there is some definite hardware or software issues with this box..ta

how do i get in touch with the SV DEVELOPMENT TEAM ?

hi yes mate...my cs provider put me on Newcamd..still had same issues..went back to CCcam...anyway, you can delete the heat issues..cos i have just this very minute switched on the reciever from a very cold icy house...just watchin the england v bangldesh cricket, within 5 minutes..freezing and glitching...so its not a heat issue...definately FW issues here...im surprised the starview team havnt fixed this yet...was gonna recommend this box to my mates but have some serious doubts over the future support for this box...
