I would double check you connections, make sure none of the braid is touching the inner core, and there is plenty of the braid in contact with the f-connector. Levels of 20% on both suggest a cable problem.

Assuming thats ok, it should just be a case of altering the elevation of the dish as you sweep slowly left and right until you get a signal.

Yes, you need to remake the ends, There are some good pictures here How to fit F Connectors to coaxial cable

Hi mate, just a thought, if you are using the outfit on a boat and using an ordinary dish, you have little or no chance of getting anything good. I am assuming that you are on a boat, as you mentioned masts. The metal on the masts might well reflect some signal, but should not reduce it to the extent you are experiencing. You also need to have the dish elevation right or your signal will suffer, even if you are right on the satellite.

Regards Wez

They are the relative orbital postions of satellites. You have got your dish pointed at 19 degrees east of due south, Astra 1. Your dish needs to point at 28 degrees east, Astra 2, so if your stood behind the dish looking at it, it needs to move a little left and down.
