Yes, in some rare instances it will set automatically if the box is moved from Pure to Pure but other than that, the chip lift is the only way to set the Net ID.

This might help. I found this on another forum

Q: I've set my V+ output to HD, but I don't have an HDTV and now I can't see any pictures
A: (Scientific-Atlanta) Hold in the Stop and Play/Pause buttons on the front panel, and press Reset. Keep Stop and Play/Pause held in until the display says 'boot'. After a few seconds the display should say 'outpt'. Press the Fast Forward button several times until the display says 'Sd', then press OK. Wait for the V+ to reboot then you should be back in SCART mode.

You can also use this method to switch the V+ into HD mode - either select "Hdrni" (HDMI) or "YPbPr" (component) before you press OK. And if you use the Rewind button, you can switch between 720p and 1080i

to get to the engineers menu push in the up/down channel buttons while powering the system on

Ok so i have located the 512 chip on the under side of the board. can I also get my IRD and box key off this chip, as the card has been done before by someone else and as a result of them not doing it properly the card is not readable? also what do i need to program the chip? do i have to put a little bit of wire on the legs of the chip in order to read and program it? could someone please let me know what to do asap?
thanks.

it doesant matter wot mode the box is set to it should still boot into em, once u see the word diag on box screen plug ur scart lead in top or bottom doesant matter witch, if u still cant see em on tv screen then put a fly lead in box out put to tv tune tv till it finds the freq its usually 52 or 54 then u will be able to see the diags on tv screen....
