This may be a daft question to some of you but if I use a splitter on my moden cable then connect another modem will they both work Ok ??

1. plug the fkin splitter into the feed
2. plug the split feed into the modems
3. use the modems

i'm not seeing a problem here.

would you need the same mac's for that or different ones? As thats similar to the set up i nearly have!!

You need two different MAC addresses - one for each modem. If you pay a subscription for one of them, then that already has a MAC address.
