Default Total Newbie needing advice

Hiya fellas, Im a nomadic Man City fan that cannot afford the travelling and a Season ticket any longer, I have Sly with ESPn so can get loads of games at present but that also cannot continue indefinately.

I'm after advice and help on all things satellite, what to buy, what it gives, which one brings the most for the cost and finally which won't be old technology this time next week.

I've read hundreds of feeds and hundreds of links and come away with more questions than before.

I've also been told so much bull from friends that my heads up my bum

I'm after a system that I can watch football on from foreign feeds, is this still available or can it no longer be done, sick of dodgy iraqgoals & justtintv from the net!

Will I need to subscribe or will I get it buckshee - FTA?

I'm not minted but have money ready for the right system but don't want it to turn into a white elephant like my last attempt at foreign tv, all that got was porn - now I know that has an appeal but not when all I want is to watch Prem matches and maybe European games next season (well I'm a City fan so take nowt for granted!).

Hope you can help
Steve

There is almost zero fta premiership coverage these days - the feeds carried on satellite are heavily and securely encrypted.

If you want the best European packages be prepared to pay a thousand quid a year for the subscription - half as much again if you want HD.

The great days of entering codes are long gone. DigiTV on 1W is the last big pay package open, but that one will be going black soon as well.

Is there a specific Protek? I was told that linux was the best way to go but maybe not at the beginning I was thinking of a TM6800 0r 6900 maybe a 7100. I have no idea.
The pub down the road has 4 different systems and I can't believe that he pays 4 x 1K for it? He has a different match on each set in the pub and even shows Irish ESPN at 3 on Saturdays.

What is the benefit of getting a motorized system then? I've read that link and it doesn't tell me much.

If there is little available (apart from pron) what are the benefits?

The pub down the road is doing the legal thing by pay an official sub, A motorised system will allow receiption of several satellites and the Protek Unix 500 or 9700 HD has a secret which you need to google to find out or look at the link I gave you which has a link in the thread. A TM6800 Super, 6900 Super or 7100 won't open channels without you paying some unknown source see this warning: Payserver Warning

The protek has a hard wired card share - all well and good which gives you access to various packages.

Until the pay providers go after the servers.

If you want *guaranteed* access for a year then buy a subscription!

id recommend sky italia, but cant guarentee all man city games, usually 3 saturday 3pm kick offs every week plus all sunday/monday gamjes

best and cheapest place to get pay tv cards is tv corner in france, sky italia hd, mondo, sport and calcio plus free receiver 949 euros, great company my mate has bought this sub for the last 3 years without any problems.
