Forget it.

Get the pole level, and set the elevation right.

You are wasting your time otherwise, it will never work.

Aj4u I'm not suprised that you could not find anything. Kinda half hearted attempt. I set up the exact same set up the other night with motorised sky dish using a s++t maplins nikkai motor. Base was on flat concrete and pole correct. Motor settings as a your long and lat. ie 53 deg. Dish set a verticle to the ground, just like all the other sat dish's. Pointing up in the air on down at the ground and you way out. With the small sly dish I could not get thor. But 28, 19, and 13e came in just fine. If you don't set the base up correctly even by moving the dish east and west you wont get anything because you will be either too high or too low for the arc. Motor was rubbish and did not work with usals well it kept buggering off to 70 deg east, sent it back and ordered a tm2600.

Hi mate,

Don't you have a spirit level knocking about if the you have it is sloping just use some bits of wood to level it up. I nicked the weighted parasol base from under the garden furniture and use this for testing. See pics below. I house mine in a car port facing a garage door its only ten foot away but I've tested I know at a guess what angle the signals come down at. PS motor missing waiting for the new one to arrive from these pictures.

Wink Re: Whacked the dish in the back garden...

Ideally, the pole should be absolutely plumb!!

But...

With a bit of messing around, it will work to a variable degree with a slightly wonky one.

But have it nowhere near plumb, you ain't got a chance in hell.

What I use for a temporary mount is a Dlack and Decker Workmate and a scaffold pole, works on sloping ground on the grass.

I knock the pole in an inch or 3 then use the workmate to hold it vertical(ish). It does a fair proportion of the arc like that.

The dish does roll left and right as it tracks the arc. If you where to set the motor up at 0 on thor. Which is nearly due south you would see the motor rolling left and right as you went from east to west.
