Default Should I stay or should I go now?

I've been with Virgin for around 11 years and have enjoyed the best of the net along the way but since the N3 issue is imminent I decided to get SKY TV in which was installed the other day. Since then Virgin reckon they can give me a V+ box and same channels etc. for £8 pm less. AND I've since been told that there's new boxes out that can handle HD but does that mean they can handle n3? I've also been told there's a way to chip the sky boxes too so need to know if it's true?
Why buy an HD box if nagra 3 is imminent?

I need to know which box to stick with? do I keep the sky box in just in case its chippable or do I get the V+ box in and hope my beloved MaxV is revivable, LOL (or another box comes out in future?)

I'm keeping my Virgin net though

tia

1. You cant chip a sky box, or otherwise modify it to obtain pay channels for free.

2. Once the N3 rollout is complete VM will be exactly the same.

So your choice is easy, either pay Sky for your TV or Pay VM. Simples.

With a unconfirmed rumour of 3.7 hitting Bristol i took advantage of skys free HD box and install . What a hell of a piece of kit , well impressed great picture and sound quality. Personally i'd reccommend sky mate

thanks rick, thats the confirmation I needed

yeah g80878 thats what I did, £55 installation but it was on a sunday! I guess it all comes down to which is the best box & as far as I can tell the SKY box has the upper hand but I do need to do more research within the 7 day limit.

So why are ppl buying HD dodgy boxes if they know n3 is imminent? I think I'm getting mixed up with them being n3 compatible when in fact their not?

Because they are clueless and will have wasted their money when N3 is fully rolled out.

A lot of them are also gullible, thinking the more experienced people here dont know what they're on about(Nivida comes to mind) and think that nagra 3 will be launched out to the full extent of the UK, and someone will magically come up with a "fix" and this "fix" will work on their non linux or even non ethernet receiver.

Idiots

You'll know when it does happen, when you get weird channels on third party receivers lol. I suppose if you have a modded cable box, then you'll know straight away. Im happy because I sold a couple of receivers, back in February and the buyers had until 14th March to make a PP dispute and they havent

BTW, c/s much with Sky?

I think I'll be keeping sky tv in as their box seems to be way better than the v+ box

You could still fix them, in terms of soldering etc... if your like me and loathe a lot of company's customer service-Im currently arguing with eBay customer service who have overcharged me, in fees(Its been 4 days!)
