lat lon entered correctly but this is where im getting confused ,,im on thor and the pointer is just about 1past zero on the west side of scale ......the scale says west pointing arrow to zero,,other side east arrow pointing to zero direction, my pointer is on west side of the scale just past zero which i assume is correct.. ifso do i use usals in motor set up to go to altantic 5w

If your longditude is 2w, the motor should be at 1e when pointing at Thor. If you have sent the dish to 1w with USALS and have lined the dish up, the next step is to try other satellites. If you've set it up right the dish will go right to them.

Press the reset pin on the motor, then send the GOTO 0 command from the reciever, that usually sorts it out.

Try resetting the motor on it's own. I'm not sure which command to use from the reciever, I've never come accross one without a "Goto 0" command.

The reset button should only be pressed when the motor is on zero. Press it anywhere else, and that position will become 'zero' instead.

Can you take a photo of underneath the motor, when you are picking up Thor, as I'm having great difficulty in understanding what you are writing.

A photo would confirm (if you get it in focus!) whether the motor is clamped onto the pole correctly.

so u mean if i set motor 1degree in the easterly direction,,,ie 1 e.......i then turn dish and motor around on pole to get thor ? this would then put me on the arc ,,,as at the moment thor is on 1 degree in the westerly direction ,,ie 1w[ is this correct ? ] where it woudve been had my longitude been 0 , but coz of my 2.8 longitude i wouldnt get the arc or miss satellites .so i have to compensate for it

If your longditude is 2.8w, you need to set your motor to 1.8e when on thor to compensate for your location. As I say, USALS will do this for you so long as you input the correct location coordinates into the reciever.
