therefore co ordinates have been put in, motor at 1w at thor do i now do a blind search for sats

with the motor at 1w with USALS, monitor an active transponder like 11325H 24500 7/8 which carries BBC world news. If you don't already get a signal then you need to asjust the azimuth by moving the motor around the pole and the declination, by altering the angle of the dish bracket until you recieve the best signal. Make any adjustments carefully, and before you start mark where it all is now so atleast you can't make it any worse. Then do a scan.

DO NOT alter the Elevation of the motor, unless your sure it's wrong already.

that is west ,,,,is it not ? when the dish moves in westerely direction it moves to the left

thor has been located at 1w ,or 0.8 to be precise which is to the left
the problem to me seems to be commands to the motor as the motor isnt driving in any direction . even if the satellites were not aligned , the motor should still move when directed at say hotbird [i should think].it wouldnt get hotbird but would still go to where the settings dictated to in reciever .
i have sent the dish to 13 e on reciever and scanned and received channels but they were the thor channels as the receiver thought is was on hotbird but it hadnt moved , so i think there is a fault with receiver or motor

No moving East is to the left, moving West is to the right When the dish moves in a westerly direction it moves to the right.

In your opening post you said that the motor WAS moving. Was it? Have you changed something in the receiver so that it doesn't any more.

Well, that changes things a little.

Did the installer have the dish moving?, have you seen it moving?

Does the motor move using the buttons underneath it?, is the green light on?
