Default newbie sat problem

i have had an installer try for hours to get all satellites on a next ye-2000 motorised 1m system but to no avail
the prob seems to be the motor goes beyond the satellite thts requiered , eg ,,hotbird is actually eutelsat using usuals
i can get thor channels but as it moves it doesnt find the satellite i require, yet on sat meter independant of reciever it locates satellites .
the installer has assured me the pole is vertical and elevation is correct ,
on the sat meter in the example above i get strong signal and the channels.
need help
ty

Hi

Firstly check that the motor is aligned correctly on the pole. Do that by manually sending the dish to the required position for your due south sat.

eg if your longitude is 1 degree east, send the motor so that it is at 2 degrees west of zero on the motor.

If thats ok, check your long and lat are in the receiver correctly.

If they are, then send the dish to your due south sat, does it go to the right place?

If not, send the dish to reference, does it go to zero? it should.

If not, reset the motor with the button on it, with the motor at zero.

If it still doesn't work, give up and use diseqc 1.2.

my longitude is 2.8 west ,,,or -2.8
latitude is 56.5
when the installer manually set it for astra it recieved astra channels does this mean its on the arc ,,,? but its just the motor that needs setting correctly?

Probably, but I always check 42e, 1w and 30w when I do a motorised to confirm it. Take the steps that Robbo has suggested, if it dosen't sort it out, the results will probably give us a better idea whats wrong with it.

The installer could have made a complete ballsup of it, we have no way of knowing. Getting a single satellite on the arc proves nothing.

I read it as though he had 1w, then when moving the motor manually got Astra (no mention of which). Could have read it wrong it's a bit unclear.

Check that the motor is at the expected position, as stated above.

im on thor kanal d,motor zero ive reset motor ....on motor set up, ive tried to send dish using usuals to astra2,,,msg states moving to astra 2,,, but dish doesnt move it stays on thor kanal d, i go to antenna set up its still on thor , i change that to astra 2, so when i go back to motor set up it says moving to thor [but it hasnt moved in 1st place],,i then open up antenna its back to thor, am i doing some thing wrong ?

ps i bought this equip from ian southern satellites , and he has said to return reciever to try in his shop,,,but asking here incase this could b rectified without returning reciever and not trying to cut his grass as he and others in forum think installer has ballsed it up,,,which mayb the case .
installer has just successfully installed the latest hd technomate with another customer \for the record

No, correction, we don't think the installer has cocked up, but ensuring that it has been set up correctly, is necessary before tackling the problem further.

By the way, you have to make sure that every satellite has USALS selected.
