Technomate 6800 HD and IRDETO2 Card

Hi,

I have recently bought a Technomate 6800 HD. My satellite is pointing to Eurobird 9 and I am able to see the FTA channels. I have been reading through the forum and learning this process of patching, CAM etc.

My question is basic. If I just buy an official IRDETO 2 cam will I be able to see the channels that are encrypted by IRDETO 2 or should I use the official IRDETO2 cam and combine it with a viewing card to see the encrypted channels.

I wanted to see the Asian channels in the satellite. Instead of the above option if I get the official cards from the channel distributors will I be able to put the card in my Technomate?

The official IRDETO cam is no use on its own without a subscription card.


I don't know whether the card would work directly in the receiver card slot, possibly, if the receiver were patched.

If not, then you'd need the proper CAM.

Your TM should read an Iderto card in the card slot as far I as know.

So basically to receive those channels I must buy the official viewing cards from the channel distributors and also have the IRDETO2 CAM. Is my understanding right?

It's worth investigating further to see if the card can be read direct in the card slot as then you wouldn't need the CAM, but if not then yes, you need the Cam and Card.

Just remembered, the Gamma cards programmed up to emulate an IRDETO card work OK in the Technomate, so it is likely an official IRDETO card will, as Rick say, try it and see.
